When I take the time to attend a workshop, I want to know more about the person who is sharing information. This helps me to know if my goals align with the type of information they will be presenting. Also, I like to know why the information would be helpful. So here is a little more about me, followed by reasons I feel the information I’ll be sharing will be helpful.
About Me
I’m the author of A Cooked-Up Fairy Tale and There Was an Old Dragon Who Swallowed a Knight, both from Random House Children’s Books.
A Cooked-Up Fairy Tale was just released in September and received wonderful reviews from national reviewers. It’s finding its way in the world and seems to be selling well.
There Was an Old Dragon Who Swallowed a Knight was released in 2015. It was named Best of Rhyme 2015 in conjunction with with the Rhyming Picture Book Revolution Conference. It has been on two state book lists and was included in Scholastic Reading Clubs in February of 2017 and is available at Scholastic Book Fairs. I’m thrilled that it was published in the UK in December of 2016. The illustrator, Ben Mantle, resides in the UK, so that makes this especially exciting. I’m a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators).
I’m represented by Tricia Lawrence of the well-respected Erin Murphy Literary Agency.

Why I Feel the Information Will Be Helpful
I feel that the information I’m going to share will be helpful in navigating the world of children’s publishing. Writing for publication is a slow journey—a marathon instead of a sprint. Gathering resources takes time. I’m going to share some important resources that I’ve gathered over the last seven years. Will this turn your marathon into a sprint? No. But it will give you places to turn to for information, for learning, and for making connections with others in the world of children’s literature.
The main reason that I feel that information I’m going to share will be helpful is because it was helpful to me. I have attended conferences and workshops just like the one I’m presenting and the information has proved invaluable to me on my writing journey.
