Hello Friends! Just In case you haven’t visited before, let me tell you a little about A Great Nephew and A Great Aunt. My great nephew, Landon (now an eighth-grader) and I (his great aunt) collaborate. I write a poem which he illustrates. We started this collaboration in the fall of 2014 and had so much fun with it that we decided to invite others along. Landon and I will continue to have a new episode on one Friday of each month. The other Fridays are filling up quickly with guests sharing poetry and art in beautiful collaborations. I have created a page on my website to view all the episodes of A Great Nephew and a Great Aunt. Click HERE to visit the page and enjoy past episodes.
Today I have an especially GREAT treat! I’ve written a poem . . . as usual. And Landon has an illustration to go along with the poem . . . as usual. And that is GREAT!!! 😀

We have this wonderful event in the town of Sleepy Hollow in the Hudson Valley called the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze that your poem and nieces and nephew’s drawings remind me of. Loved all the images, and your poem of course. I also love the idea of developing this into a picture book…I’m sure it will be great lol. http://www.hudsonvalley.org/events/blaze

Quite a lot of artistic genes…and not from their great aunt Penny. 😀 Landon’s work is so strong. He amazes me. And the variety in this post is so fun…from particularly haunting to every kind of jack-o’-lantern imaginable! Thanks for coming by, Lauri!

Landon’s street scene is very sophisticated. So much detail. Took me a long time to find the hidden object because I assumed it was hidden in a building or the background, but no. He is too clever for that, by far. Also the other JOLs were adorable also. Especially the flying bat JOL. What a creative bunch you have. Even the puppy. How clever to make art and then eat it. Sounds like a great idea.

Thanks, Brenda! And so glad you found the hidden object. I thought he’d left it out until I inspected it VERY closely. I do have a creative bunch of GREATS and it was really fun to have them all contribute to this post. Thanks for coming by 😀

I would say that’s definitely enough jack-o-lanterns to light the town! So many treats, but where’s the trick? I couldn’t find Landon’s hidden object. Is it there one this time?

I don’t think there is Michelle because I couldn’t find it either. I’ll ask Landon.
So just treats, I think. Thanks for stopping by 😀

What a GREAT post! The thing that would not be GREAT is to choose a favorite! I enjoyed all the art–who knew how many variations on a jack-o-lantern there could be!

Great poem, GREAT artwork. Mom enjoyed it all very much. But you may have missed a memo, P. I am deathly afraid of pumpkins of all kinds. I turn to stone when I see one and Mom has to carry me past it. That said, Louie’s was my favorite!
Love and licks,
Cupcake

What a GREAT family! (I have to admit that I’m partial to Louie’s artwork. In fact, I just cleaned a similar masterpiece off my kitchen floor.)
