Hello, Great Readers of our series! Just In case you haven’t visited before, let me tell you a little about A Great Nephew and A Great Aunt. My great nephew, Landon (a seventh-grader) and I (his great aunt) collaborate. I write a poem which he illustrates. We started this collaboration in the fall of 2014 and have had so much fun with it that we decided to invite others along. Landon and I will continue to have a new episode on the second Friday of each month. The other Fridays are filling up quickly with guests. I have created a page on my website to view all the episodes of A Great Nephew and a Great Aunt. Click HERE to visit the page and enjoy past episodes.

The Artbutterfly-drawing

As usual, Landon has outdone himself! His drawing has its own story to tell and has so much personality. Don’t forget to look for Landon’s hidden object in his drawing. If you need help, I did a post with a riddle that should help. Click HERE to view that post.

Thanks so much for joining us today. I appreciate all of you who read this series. See you next week when I’ll have guest collaborators.

  1. I love the poem. Landon’s art adds so much, as always. I love the briefcase, the mailbox and the rising smoke. Such a cozy cocoon. I looked for and found his cleverly hidden pencil even before I read your reminder, Penny. 🙂

  2. Is there room for one more? I’d love to squeeze into that cocoon with a cuppa cocoa for a while. What incredible memories you two have from collaborating together….so many life lessons that this kid has taught you and you have taught him. Love the work and the work.

  3. Landon has totally outdone himself with this drawing. He must be aspiring to be a picture book illustrator. Or perhaps you two already have that up your sleeve. I found the pencil. He’s also getting more and more clever about hiding it.

    1. Thanks, Margaret. I love the way Landon brings a story with his art. It’s amazing to me. He could have a future in illustration, in my opinion. Glad you found the pencil. He is getting more clever…it’s hard to see 🙂

  4. Love it all, and no surprise that the poem is a new look at butterflies as is Landon’s ingenious drawing. I adore it, and did find that hidden pic! Thanks again for the lovely post!
