Ants may rule the hill, but they don’t rule here! Art by Landon (Click to Enlarge)
Happy National Poetry Month!
Hello, Great Readers of our series! Just In case you haven’t visited before, let me tell you a little about A Great Nephew and A Great Aunt. My great nephew, Landon (a sixth-grader) and I (his great aunt) collaborate. I write a poem which he illustrates. We started this collaboration in the fall of 2014 and have had so much fun with it that we decided to invite others along. Landon and I will continue to have a new episode on the second Friday of each month. The other Fridays are filling up quickly with guests.
I have created a page on my website to view all the episodes of A Great Nephew and a Great Aunt. Click HERE to visit the page and enjoy past episodes.
Today it’s my pleasure to share a creative collaboration from . . .
Jennifer Cole Judd and Her Daughter, Anna
From Jennifer: Anna loves drawing, particularly, flowers. She added a little special guest for this piece. A flower home for a frog seemed like pretty posh real estate to me, which sparked the inspiration for my poem.
The Art

The Poem
Many thanks to Jennifer and Anna for sharing their talents with us today!

Her poems and stories have appeared in children’s magazines including Cricket, Spider, and Highlights High Five. She coedited and contributed to An Eyeball in My Garden—And Other Spine-Tingling Poems (Two Lions Publishing), a spooky middle-grade poetry anthology. Her first picture book,Circus Train (Two Lions) debuted in March 2015. Learn more: www.jennifercolejudd.com.

I can’t imagine any “home upgrade” nicer than this beautiful flower drawn by Anna. Coming from a “drippy, dreary long” must make him quite happy. And it may attract better insects too! Thanks Jennifer and Anna for the creative story, and Penny for the post welcoming spring.

I agree about the upgrade, Linda. Lucky frog! And lucky for us—getting to experience this happy, hoppy collaboration 😀

I heard it was snowing up there! Glad Jennifer and Anna picked a hoppy, springy poem to shed some sun on the cold.

Oh wow, snow!!! Come visit in Texas! The frogs are out all over the place here. Before it turns scorching, that is. 😉

Wow–Anna’s artwork is wonderful. And what’s not to like about a frog with a fancy flower throne? Lovely collaboration.
