Hello, Great Readers of our series! Just In case you haven’t visited before, let me tell you a little about A Great Nephew and A Great Aunt. My great nephew, Landon (a sixth-grader) and I (his great aunt) collaborate. I write a poem which he illustrates. We started this collaboration in the fall of 2014 and have had so much fun with it that we decided to invite others along. Landon and I will continue to have a new episode on the second Friday of each month. The other Fridays are filling up quickly with guests.

I have created a page on my website to view all the episodes of A Great Nephew and a Great Aunt. Click HERE to visit the page and enjoy past episodes.

Today it is my pleasure to share a creative collaboration from . . .

Kirsti Call and Son, Sammy

From Kirsti: Thanks for allowing me to participate in this. It’s so much fun to collaborate with my kids. Sammy is my youngest (5 years) and this is what he said about his painting:  “I painted these 3 robin eggs because I love them and they remind me of beginning again.”

And a special treat. The Call family is musically talented and today we get to hear Sammy starting off a family song with a solo.

  1. I love Sammy’s eggs, and they do make me have thoughts of spring, but I think that might be a little early. And I love the poem, Kirsti, that eggs “tremble with hope”. I’ve hatched eggs with students before, and they do tremble, and make tiny peeps too right before hatching. Thanks for all this beauty, Sammy, Kirsti and Penny.

    1. Yay! Sammy loves his bow tie too! In fact he wore bow ties to school for a full week after he got in trouble for talking… Thanks Jama! We enjoy singing and creative endeavors 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful painting and lovely poem. Thanks again, Penny!

I agree with Cathy–it’s a nice glimpse of spring before the blizzard hits!
