Hello, Great Readers of our series! Just In case you haven’t visited before, let me tell you a little about A Great Nephew and A Great Aunt. My great nephew, Landon (a sixth-grader) and I (his great aunt) collaborate. I write a poem which he illustrates. We started this collaboration in the fall of 2014 and have had so much fun with it that we decided to invite others along. Landon and I will continue to have a new episode on the second Friday of each month. The other Fridays are filling up quickly with guests. I have created a page on my website to view all the episodes of A Great Nephew and a Great Aunt. Click HERE to visit the page and enjoy past episodes.

Today is the second Friday of January, but you may have noticed the title of this post says Klaire and Penny instead of Landon and Penny. Here’s the deal—Landon has three siblings. A brother, Liam, and twin sisters, Kallie and Klaire. So today Landon has a second Friday off, and Klaire, who just had her seventh birthday, is stepping in. So today is actually A Great Niece and a Great Aunt 🙂 Klaire is an artist like Landon so I’m excited for you to see her work.

Klaire is a sunshiney honey-of-an-artist, isn’t she?

Thanks so much for joining us for today’s episode. Please come back next week for another fabulous guest collaboration.

  1. Ha! I see you HAVE been inspired by UnBeelievables! Such a sweet and perky poem, Penny. The phrase “hum-a-buzz” by itself is a cheerer-upper. And Klaire captures the essence of your poem so beautifully– looks like there’s another artist in that family that’s going to take the world by storm.

    1. Yes! I wrote two bee poems a couple of years ago after poring over UnBeelievables. This was one of them. Thanks for coming by and I’m glad you enjoyed Klaire’s interpretation of my poem. She’s a keeper!

  2. If this isn’t pure sunshine, I don’t know what is. Yay, Klaire, for this beautiful, bright artwork! And “hum-a-buzz” – love that, Penny.
(I’m wrangling a poem today with some bee imagery tossed in… I am going to dip back in here for some poetic sustenance! Thanks.) ;0)
