Hello, Great Readers of our series! Just In case you haven’t visited before, let me tell you a little about A Great Nephew and A Great Aunt. My great nephew, Landon (a fifth-grader) and I (his great aunt) collaborate. I write a poem which he illustrates. We started this collaboration last fall and have had so much fun with it that we decided to invite others along. Landon and I will continue to have a new episode on the second Friday of each month. The other Fridays are filling up quickly with guests. Since today is the second Friday of May, Landon and I have a new episode!

For this episode, I wrote a story in haiku, which Landon illustrated brilliantly. Although haiku is rarely titled, I couldn’t help myself 🙂

I laughed so hard when I saw Landon’s illustration. What a sneeze!

By the way, have you noticed that Landon has a recurring object in his illustrations? The object isn’t in the first episode or Crumbled, but it is in all the others. Keep your eyes peeled!

I have created a page on my website to view all the episodes of A Great Nephew and a Great Aunt. Click HERE to visit the page and enjoy our guests episodes as well as our past episodes.

Thanks so much for visiting today. We look forward to having you for future episodes!

  1. Landon has a great future ahead of him illustrating! And your poems were perfectly hilarious, Penny. Was the recurring object something that starts with pen? And ends with cil? LOL That’s my guess anyway.

  2. Cute! I love the concept of scattering syllables! I’m beginning to think Landon could draw anything. So. Much. Talent. I also wonder if he ever favors one drawing over another. Which one is his fav so far?

    1. Thanks for the great comments. My favorite drawings so far are the title drawing with the ants and the drawing with the pencil sharpener.

  3. Very nice!! Once again both poem and illustration go together wonderful. I love the letters scattered all over with the big sneeze.

    1. Thanks, Renee! I wrote this a while back for one of Michelle’s Today’s Little Ditty challenges. I love the challenge Nikki Grimes issued and have already shared mine with Michelle. Loved your lemony poem 🙂
So you found it! He is clever, isn’t he?
