Today is a big day for me. I am launching my paid critique service! It wasn’t that long ago that I was looking for a professional to critique manuscripts for me. I was just starting out on my wonderful journey of becoming a children’s author. I had manuscripts completed, but I had read enough about the world of publishing to know that I needed someone else’s eyes on my work before sending them to editors or agents. I knew I needed someone who would give me honest and constructive feedback. Early on, I was lucky enough to receive critiques that helped me take my writing to the next level. I can honestly say that the early feedback I received made me even more serious about writing picture books that would stand out in the market and catch an editor’s eye.

Fast forward to today. I have now been in an amazing critique group for over three years. Additionally, I have an amazing critique partner. On top of that, I’ve exchanged manuscripts with children’s authors I’ve met through social media, and with authors I’m connected with through my agency. That means I have received amazing feedback on my manuscripts. It, also, means that I have learned to critique by completing a LOT of critiques. As of today, I have completed over 190 critiques of picture book manuscripts! I couldn’t believe it when I counted!
