For Day 9, our challenge has to do with I for Inspiration. Thanks to Rena Traxel we have a nice dose of inspiration to get us going. When I need inspiration, nature is just the ticket. I feel like I’m one of those lucky people who is truly amazed at all earth’s details. I love everything about being outdoors, but particularly, blue skies can really lift my spirits…if I happen to be feeling a little blue…now isn’t that something? But, also, I would have to say when it comes to my writing, that I am inspired by children. Hmmm…blue skies and children…blue skies and children…blue skies and children. By George, I think I’ve got it!
Skies of Blue
Skies of blue Water tumbling over, under, through… Still. Reflecting skies of blue. Skies of blue Mountains rising Peak to peak in queue Standing tall in skies of blue. Skies of blue Flowers blooming Wet with morning dew Faces turned to skies of blue. Skies of blue Leaves whispering All that’s good and true Gently wave to skies of blue. Skies of blue Children playing Their smiles, joy renew And turn gray to skies of blue.
This was so lovely Penny–And if we are making confessions–I write my own way too–I know nothing about poetry really….I just know when something sounds good. And this poem sure does! 😉

Penny this is a beautiful progression of praise. I love this. You take us from the skies to mountains, etc. I’d like to rent a small corner in your creative mind.

I like this! I love how in the first stanza that “through…” made me stop to think then followed by “still.” made be still for a second. I pay attention to puctuation in poems and I like it when poets use it to further story.

Rena, You have made my day. I soooo wanted to get that across and I am thrilled that you noticed. Thanks for your encouragement. Thanks, again, for your effort in putting this together.

Beautiful, Penny! Is that like a sestina or something where you repeat lines?

Ok…Catherine…I have a confession. I write rhymes, but I am just learning the technical stuff about poetry. I had to look up the definition of sestina. I just decide my own structure (and I know that’s dangerous). But, I am slowly learning. It’s kind of like my singing…I sing harmony on key…but have no ideas of notes beyond Every Good Boy Does Fine.
